The temporary assignment turned into an international recruitment effort

From a temporary solution to strategic recruitment: A successful case study in procurement and supply chain

A year ago, we received a request for an assignment in which the client needed to strengthen its procurement organization.
They had completed an international acquisition that had doubled their revenue, which led to an increase in the scope of the procurement organization’s responsibilities!

We found an interim consultant through our network who quickly got up to speed on the assignment and added value across the entire supply chain; after a few months, their responsibilities were expanded, and they began working on strategic procurement.

When the client later needed to strengthen its purchasing department in China, it sought a qualified candidate who was familiar with the business, purchasing, and logistics, and who was willing to relocate to China…

We see this as a win-win situation.

On the one hand, there’s the company that has received help in tackling several critical tasks over the past year and has even made a new hire in the process. The risk that’s always involved in hiring is significantly lower if you’ve hired the person in question on a temporary basis and seen how they perform in practice.

And the consultant, who is now embarking on an exciting new journey and who, over the past year, has taken on greater responsibilities and highly stimulating tasks at a dynamic, fast-growing company!

We wish “our” consultant all the best and good luck in his new adventure as an employee at the client’s Chinese company!
